Not being suitable for radiation protection, the concrete coated with KALMATRON® KF-αβγ performed targeted radiation attenuation. It opened new possibility for the low class concretes to be accepted in the nuclear industry.
Below is a translation of test procedure description, test results and conclusions about KALMATRON® KF-αβγ effectiveness for upgrading of low class concrete up to the range of radiation shielding materials.
The conclusion of test results shown below is:
a) 50 mm thick concrete panel plus 10 m thick KF-αβγ, the quantity of radiation was reduced by 38.4%
after 110 minutes. After 29 days, the quantity of radiation was reduced by 41%.
b) 50 mm thick concrete panel plus 20 mm thick KF-αβγ, the quantity of radiation was reduced by 42.1%
after 230 minutes.
c) 50 mm thick concrete panel plus 30 mm thick KF-αβγ, the quantity of radiation was reduced by 45.9%
after 230 minutes. After 29 days, the quantity of radiation was reduced by 50%.
